Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney is one of the names of Manchester City’s left-back shortlist after they missed out on Marc Cucurella.

City want to find a replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko, who joined the Gunners last month in a £32m deal, before the summer transfer deadline but their search thus far has been laden with setbacks.

The Cityzens wanted to sign Brighton’s Cucurella, but they refused to match the Seagulls’ lofty valuation of the Spaniard and he instead made the switch to Chelsea, who paid a staggering £63m for his services.

The Premier League champions have been linked with a whole host of names and Arsenal’s Tierney is the latest to generate interest.

Zinchenko was an underrated but nonetheless vital cog in City’s recent success and replacing him will be no easy feat. The Ukrainian has slotted in seamlessly at Arsenal, and Tierney’s status as the club’s first-choice left-back is under serious threat.

The Scottish international has endured several injury setbacks since he arrival in north London three years ago.

That, however, hasn’t deterred City, who, according to 90min, has been discussed as a possible option to replace Zinchenko.

The Cityzens are on the verge of completing the signing of 21-year-old Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht, but the Spanish left-back is expected to be loaned out for the 2022/23 season – especially if they bring in one other.

Alongside Tierney, Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo, Atletico’s Renan Lodi and Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro are also said to be on City’s radar.

Tierney’s injury issues and the arrival of Zinchenko could tempt Arsenal into selling this summer, but the Gunners’ lack of left-back depth following the loan exit of Nuno Tavares means they’ll be taking a huge risk if they sanction a sale.

As it stands, selling Tierney doesn’t appear to be on the club’s radar, but a mammoth offer from the champions could alter their stance.
