While Martin Odegaard’s performances were solid if unimpressive in the first two games, he exploded against Bournemouth. Nothing can quite endear a fanbase to a player as a willingness to learn from their mistakes and continue to improve. He showed his mindset of continual improvement against the Cherries.

The Norwegian passed up a glorious chance in the season opener at Selhurst Park. Fans were quick to jump on him, citing both his lack of goals and assists in an effort to criticise one of Arsenal’s most important players. Odegaard himself acknowledged that he should have taken on the shot against Palace and he has strived to develop a quicker trigger. His efforts were seen on Saturday.

Although the first goal to open the scoring is a relatively straightforward shot off of the back of Jesus’ brilliance, the second illustrates how seriously he is taking his output. Odegaard nipped in and took the ball off Jesus’ toe to fire it into the back of the net.

In addition to his shooting, the other aspects of his game were still there. He pulled the strings in midfield, moving the ball quickly and accurately against a deep block. His passing allows Arsenal’s attack to truly flow and with more goals and assists sure to come, Edu can fire up the grill to celebrate another one of his signings showing his quality.

Arsenal impressed once again as they defeated Bournemouth easily. Although the fixture list has been kind to them, they must still beat the “easy” teams. A clean sheet, goals and an overall attacking efficiency. What more can fans ask for?
