Arsenal will be looking to continue their perfect start to the 2022/23 Premier League season as they host the impressive Fulham on Saturday evening.

Manchester City’s thrilling draw at Newcastle last Sunday left the Gunners as the only side in the division with a 100% record. Mikel Arteta’s side are top of the table after three games and they’ve certainly garnered the attention of many.

Arsenal waltzed to a 3-0 triumph at Bournemouth last Saturday as Martin Odegaard scored his first brace for the club. The Gunners were utterly dominant on the South Coast, but they’re in for a tricky test this weekend.

Marco Silva’s Fulham have been the early surprise package of the new campaign. The Cottagers are one of seven unbeaten teams left in the Premier League and they head into this bout off the back of a last-gasp victory over Brentford in the West London Derby.

Silva’s side did taste defeat away at Crawley in the EFL Cup second round on Tuesday, however. Although, the XI was largely made up of academy stars, new signings, and fringe players.

Arsenal Team News

Mikel Arteta could name the same starting XI for the fourth consecutive game on Saturday. There are no fresh injury concerns for the Gunners with Reiss Nelson being the only notable absentee.

Emile Smith Rowe returned to action off the bench last weekend, while Fabio Vieira was an unused substitute.

The Portuguese playmaker could make his debut on Saturday evening, but he won’t start.

Fulham Team News

Marco Silva made a whole host of changes to the side that beat Brentford last weekend for the EFL Cup clash at Crawley in the week.

Thus, the Cottagers boss isn’t expected to make too many changes to his strongest XI that has started the season strongly for the trip to the Emirates.

Neeskens Kebano is expected to miss out with a groin injury, while summer arrival Manor Soloman and Harry Wilson are long-term absentees.

Bernd Leno will likely start against his former club.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are purring right now, but they’ll certainly be put to the test on Saturday evening.

While the sample size is small, Fulham are the most direct side in the Premier League. According to The Analyst, the Cottagers have progressed the ball upfield quicker than any side thus far, while they’ve also completed the fewest 10+ passing sequences. In short, Fulham are excellent on the counter and Arsenal’s work in defensive transition must be up to scratch.

The Gunners will almost certainly dominate the ball and sustain pressure, but Mikel Arteta must be aware of the visitors’ threat going the other way.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is proving himself at the highest level and he’ll be a nuisance for William Saliba and Gabriel. The Serb plays a crucial role in ensuring his side gets up the pitch, so his battle with our centre-backs will be a big one.

This is a difficult game for the hosts, but I think they’ll get over the line in perhaps unconvincing fashion.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Fulham
