3 positives & negatives from Arsenal’s comeback win over Fulham
Positive #2: Redemption
It would be so easy for Gabriel to lose confidence after getting pickpocketed by Aleksandar Mitrovic for Fulham’s opener. But that didn’t happen, he fought back.
The team kept pushing and just like Saliba’s redemption goal last week after his own goal the week prior, Gabriel got to stamp a win for the Gunners with his strike late in the match.
Long gone are the days of Shkodran Mustafi finger-pointing or blaming others when a goal is scored. This team is hungry and will work to get three points no matter what.
Negative #2: Timing of subs
This is a picky complaint given the result, but I feel that Arteta must be more proactive with his subs.
We saw some of that on Saturday with Eddie Nketiah coming on after the opener and he immediately made an impact in the match. His cameo, overall, was stellar and it helped Arsenal turn the tide.
However, there were no other changes by Arsenal until Takehiro Tomiyasu came on after taking the lead. Especially with five subs, I’d like to see more proactivity in the approach.
Emile Smith Rowe didn’t get in the game, and I can’t help but think he would be a huge difference maker off the bench when chasing a goal. Obviously, we won but I think that we should look to be more proactive in this department, especially with more games coming.
