Gabriel Jesus had a quiet game compared to the incredibly high standards he’s established. The forward line did well to move the ball quickly but there just seemed to be something missing. Mikel Arteta turned to his bench earlier than usual, giving Eddie Nketiah a chance to make an impact. And what an impact it was.

From the second he stepped onto the pitch, his determination and sheer will to make something happen were clear. The Englishman has improved his physicality, and his ability to make the ball stick was crucial in ensuring Arsenal sustained pressure towards the end of the contest.

Full of energy, the striker made several intelligent runs in behind the Fulham defence, dovetailing well with Jesus. Although he couldn’t secure his goal off the back of one of these runs after being picked out by Odegaard, he provided a much-needed attacking impetus.

One to watch with the fixtures now coming thick and fast.
