Liverpool had an interesting summer. They lost arguably their most important player, Sadio Mane, to Bayern and flexed some financial muscle to bring in Darwin Nunez from Benfica. Long-term, selling Mane and getting an exciting young attacker like Nunez will be smart but, he has not hit the ground running the way Haaland has. I believe they’ll ultimately be fine this season after a tough start, but the ageing midfield is a big worry and Arthur Melo will surely not be enough to mitigate their issues.

I spoke to Rush the Kop site expert, Liam Frederick (@LiamfrederickTh) about how Liverpool fared this summer:

1. What are your overall thoughts on Liverpool’s window?

"“All in all, I believe Liverpool have had a solid transfer window. I expect us to reap the rewards of Darwin Nunez very soon., while Fabio Carvalho, despite limited game time, has shown he’s got what it takes to mix it at an elite level. Calvin Ramsay provides Trent with some much-needed competition at right-back – something he’s yet to face – and Arthur, despite not having the best time at Juventus, mends our depleted engine room and potentially has a high ceiling under the guidance of Klopp!”"

2. What club won the window and why?

"“If the early season form of Erling Haaland is anything to go by then Manchester City have certainly won the window. They have a generational talent on their hands, one who has the potential to wreak havoc on Premier League defences for seasons to come. From that signing alone it’s hard to look past them taking that one.”"

3. How would you rate Arsenal’s window?

"“It seems as if Arsenal’s transfer window has been fruitful, to say the least. Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko seem like extremely shrewd bits of business. Both Premier League winners on multiple occasions, they have brought Manchester City’s winning mentality with them to the Emirates, a priceless trait. I’m eager to see Fabio Vieira get more games under his belt, too. His record for Porto was classy and it will be interesting to see if he can translate that form to the English top flight!”"

This was a long one so I appreciate everyone that read through all of this. Thanks again to all five of these wonderful writers for helping me out with this!
