2. Marquinhos

Although fans were excited to see Marquinhos in pre-season, most were disappointed. Not by his level but by his lack of minutes. In his brief cameos, the Brazilian showed a solid base level of physicality and excellent close control.

Premier League football is probably a step too far for Marquinhos at this moment in time. There is no doubt that he is a talented footballer with a bright future ahead of him, but he must slowly build his way up to challenging Saka on that right-hand side.

Given Nelson’s issues and the lack of depth, however, a promising Europa League campaign could hand Marquinhos a prominent role for the Gunners moving forward.
