3 fringe players to look out for in upcoming Europa League campaign
By Krish Ajmani
1. Fabio Vieira
Fabio Vieira is only classified as a fringe player due to his lack of fitness. An injury in pre-season has led to him being on the bench far more than he would’ve liked to start his Arsenal career. Despite his slow start, fans are excited by what’s to come from the Portuguese playmaker after he made his debut against Manchester United last weekend.
In a few minutes, the Portuguese star showed a willingness to shoot, lovely close control in tight spaces, and eye-catching passing. The pass for Gabriel Martinelli that was just barely cut out was a glimpse of the player’s ability.
Question marks remain over his position and where he can develop in this blossoming Arsenal team but there is no doubt he has a big part to play this season.
The Europa League has proven to be extremely useful in keeping fringe players engaged while allowing youth players to develop. This campaign is no different. Heavy rotation from the side that started against Manchester United is expected but there is plenty to look forward to. Hopefully, Arsenal can get off to a good start against FC Zurich on Thursday.
