Mikel Arteta enjoyed a perfect opening month of the 2022/23 Premier League season as Arsenal won all four games, and the Spaniard is up for the Manager of the Month award as a result.

Arsenal sit proudly atop the Premier League table. Five wins from six games and boasting a +7-goal difference as they took all before them in August.

With the Manager of the Month award for August up for grabs, there is only one man who should win it, right?

Why Mikel Arteta deserves to win August Manager of the Month

Under Arteta, Arsenal were the only team to maintain a 100% record, and the way the team dominated games and secured their wins was seriously impressive.

It is a far cry from what the Gunners dished up last season as they went winless during the opening three games and failed to score in any of them while shipping in nine goals.

Arteta is the rightful winner of the Manager of the Month award, and it’s not even close. The team has shown that it can win in different ways.

From the dominating wins over AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, and Leicester to the hard-fought victories over Fulham and Aston Villa when the team was not at its best, the Gunners still managed to secure three vital points.

While Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have scored six more goals than the Gunners, they dropped points in August, unlike Arsenal. Tottenham have been good value, but again, they were held by Chelsea and West Ham. Some will back either Graham Potter or Marco Silva when voting due to what they achieved with limited resources, and if Arteta is to get pipped to the post by anybody, it surely has to be Potter.

Potter, now of Chelsea, has been excellent but Arteta has transformed this Arsenal side, and they dominated the month of August.

While it remains to be seen if the Spaniard will win the award, there is no doubt that he should be taking it home. In the toughest league in the world, with one of the youngest teams in the division, Arsenal made a clean sweep of teams in the opening month of the new season and looked superb while doing it.

Four wins from four games should see Mikel Arteta win the Premier League Manager of the Month award.
