Arsenal got its 22/23 Women’s Super League campaign started with a bang on Friday with a 4-0 win over Brighton.

It was a dominant performance by the Gunners with over 30 attempts at goal during the match and no point in which Brighton had any threat whatsoever. That was, of course, helped by a red card for the Seagulls within the first ten minutes, but Arsenal made sure to get three points on opening day.

Here are three takeaways from the performance:

Arsenal found an answer, four times

After Brighton went down to ten players, they performed pretty well. They were compact defensively, forcing Arsenal to play out wide and cross into the box. This was looking good for Brighton if they could stay compact and organized; unfortunately for them, Arsenal was able to find a breakthrough.

Captain Little put the ball in the back of the net for the first-half opener, and then the Gunners piled it on for three more in the second 45. Brighton was always going to have a tough time in this match and going down to 10 players early and defending for over 80 minutes was not in the cards.

Arsenal controlled this match the entire time with 38 shots and four goals; it was never even close.
