A jubilant Arsenal return to Europa League action on Thursday night as they host Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt at the Emirates.

The Gunners overcame north London rivals Tottenham in the derby on Saturday to remain at the top of the Premier League table and the connection between the team, manager and supporters couldn’t be stronger than it currently is.

However, those that starred against Spurs are expected to sit out in the week ahead of another huge domestic clash next weekend. A vulnerable Liverpool are visiting the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta oversaw a victory on Matchday 1 of the Europa League group stage against FC Zurich, but the passing of Queen Elizabeth II meant their game against PSV on Matchday 2 was postponed.

Unlike the Gunners, Bodo/Glimt have played twice and they currently sit top of Group A with four points having beaten FC Zurich 2-1 last time out.

Kjetil Knutsen, who was recently linked with the Brighton job, has overseen a fairly disappointing domestic campaign in Norway with his side poised to miss out on the title to Molde, but he’ll fancy his chances of getting Bodo/Glimt into the knockout stages of this competition.

Mikel Arteta will ring the changes for Thursday’s contest with several fringe players poised to earn rare starts.

Reiss Nelson could make his first appearance of the season, while Mohamed Elneny, Emile Smith Rowe and Cedric Soares are the only injury-related absentees.

Bodo/Glimt Team News

Knutsen may well name the same starting XI from Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Lillestrom. The manager has little to worry about on the injury front with Sondre Fet being the only notable absentee.

Bodo/Glimt are a dynamic outfit that will look to take Thursday’s contest to the hosts. The Norwegian outfit will likely be facing up against an Arsenal ‘B’ team (if you will), but the Gunners still boast plenty of quality.

Several stars will be determined to make an impression at the Emirates, and a bouyant home crowd will undoubtedly aid the home side even if it isn’t the most significant of contests.

I think the away side will make things tricky for Arteta’s side, but a late rally will help the Gunners over the line.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Bodo/Glimt
