Granit Xhaka has won Arsenal’s Player of the Month award for September, beating out Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka for the honour.

The redemption story for Granit Xhaka took another step forward when the Swiss midfielder scooped the club’s Player on the Month award for September.

The 30-year-old had a superb month as he played every minute of Arsenal’s games as well playing for his national team Switzerland in two wins against Spain and the Czech Republic.

Xhaka has turned himself into a goal-scoring midfielder and has two goals and three assists to his name so far in eight league games for the Gunners.

Per arsenal.com, the 30-year-old won the September Player of the Month award with 83% of the vote.

The midfielder has come a long way since that infamous day at the Emirates against Crystal Palace as he angrily threw his shirt down while getting the crowd riled up.

Under Arteta’s leadership, the Swiss international has become one of the Gunners’ most important players. As mentioned above, he has been more advanced this season, playing as your typical box-to-box midfielder.

He has scored goals and created them as well, something he rarely did in years gone by. Since arriving, Arteta has gotten the best out of the 30-year-old.

While Martin Odegaard has the captain’s armband, many have stated that Xhaka is the true leader on the pitch and it is on show time and time again. After Thomas Partey’s screamer opened the scoring in the North London derby, Xhaka could be seen marshalling the team into a huddle and delivering a captain-worthy speech to his teammates.

From basically being done with by the club and the fans, Granit Xhaka has shown what a true professional he is, and we have seen what type of player he has become.

The fans are back on side as they now sing his praises, and he is delivering on the pitch as Arsenal have started the new season with a bang.

If Xhaka continues in this vein of form, September will certainly not be his last Player of the Month award.
