Arsenal 3-0 FK Bodø/Glimt: Player ratings as Gunners ease to Europa League victory
Arsenal moved to to the top of their Europa League group with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Norwegian side FK Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.
It took some time for the Gunners to get going but two quick-fire goals from Eddie Nketiah and Rob Holding took the sting out of a bright enough start from the away side. Arsenal made it incredibly tough for Bodo/Glimt to get up the field, and they took a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break.
The visitors had more joy in bypassing Arsenal’s press at the start of the second half and began to work Matt Turner, but Mikel Arteta’s decision to bring on the big guns halted any momentum shift.
It was one of these substitutes, Gabriel Jesus, who outfoxed several Bodo/Glimt defenders before teeing up Fabio Vieira for Arsenal’s third with less than ten minutes remaining.
Here are the Arsenal player ratings from their Europa League triumph.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Matt Turner (GK) – 6/10 – Looks far from comfortable in possession but he did make a big save midway through the second period from Amahl Pellegrino – getting down well to his right.
Takehiro Tomiyasu (RB) – 7.5/10 – Tomiyasu played like he had a point to prove on Thursday night. This was a performance straight out of 2021/22. The right-back was robust defensiely, a handy contributor in the build-up, and a smart overlapper when required. Switched over to left-back to finish the game.
Rob Holding (CB) – 6.5/10 – Still lacks technical security in the build-up but he took his goal very well and there was little to complain about defensively.
Gabriel (CB) – 6/10 – A relatively quiet night for the Brazilian. Produced a couple of standout defensive sequences.
Kieran Tierney (LB) – 7/10 – Tierney looks back to his athletic best and he was a relentless outlet in the opening stages. It was his effort that cannoned off the post before Nketiah tapped home the opener. Another impressive showing.
