Premier League table-toppers Arsenal visit Elland Road on Sunday to take on a Leeds side that’s winless in six games.

Not much was expected of Jesse Marsch’s side for the 2022/23 season, but they started the campaign by amassing seven points from their opening three games – a run which included an unforgettable 3-0 triumph over Chelsea.

Leeds have struggled badly since, however, taking just two points from their next five outings ahead of Sunday’s clash.

As for Arsenal, their winning momentum continued in the week as they edged out FK Bodø/Glimt 1-0 in tricky conditions on Thursday to take full control of their Europa League group. Mikel Arteta’s side have lost just once all season, and they secured a statement triumph over Liverpool last weekend.

Leeds Team News

The hosts will welcome back summer signing Luis Sinisterra on Sunday after the winger served his one-game suspension. However, the Colombian international isn’t guaranteed to start.

Patrick Bamford will lead the line for Leeds with Rodrigo, who started the season brilliantly before he picked up an injury, operating just off the Englishman in attack.

Stuart Dallas (thigh), Leo Fuhr Hjelde (appendectomy) and Adam Forshaw (ankle) remain out of contention.

Gabriel Jesus was rested in the week and didn’t make the trip to Norway. However, his status for Sunday isn’t believed to be in doubt.

Oleksandr Zinchenko will likely miss out once more, with Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe still sidelined.

There didn’t appear to be any fresh injury concerns for the Gunners after the victory in Bodø which means Arteta could name the same starting XI that beat Liverpool last Sunday.

The Gunners battered Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds at Elland Road last season, and while the hosts head into this contest out of form, I’m expecting this to be a battle for the table-topping Gunners.

Winning away at Leeds is no easy feat, and the perhaps over-emotional Marsch has restored some of the elements which made them so wonderful – and tough to play against – under Bielsa. Arsenal’s build-up will be put to the test by the high-octane hosts who boast plenty of talent in attacking areas.

For me, this is a banana-skin game for the visitors off the back of a trip to Bodø in the week. I’m not expecting a free-flowing performance, and Leeds could capitalise as a result.

Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Arsenal
