Positive #2: VAR

Despite the fact that it wasn’t working, causing a 40-minute delay at the beginning of the match, VAR came up big.

Even though it didn’t call back the penalty for a clear offside during the build-up, it was still a positive for the Gunners because of what happened with Gabriel at the end of the contest. The fact that VAR was available for the red card and penalty in stoppage time to be overturned was huge. It was the right call; it was never a penalty with Bamford fouling Gabriel before making the most of the Brazilian’s leg raise.

The red card decision could have gone either way, but I think that was the correct call.

Negative #2: Centre-backs

Gabriel played well but that incident at the end almost cost us. He needs to put his bozo gene in check because he’s such a talented player and he performed well on Sunday.

William Saliba was at fault for the penalty with a pretty clear handball but, thankfully, he was bailed out by Bamford’s miss. Leeds had a few other clear chances that Ramsdale was able to clean up, so it wasn’t a great day for the defence on Sunday despite registering a clean sheet.
