Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side are in EFL Cup action on Wednesday night as they face Brighton at the Emirates.
Much like the Europa League, it gives Arteta a chance to rotate his squad and give some of the young and lesser-known players some minutes. But who?
Against FC Zurich in Arsenal’s last Europa League game, several young players were in the squad. Marquinhos, Matt Smith, Karl Hein, and James Hillson were on the bench but were unused. Reiss Nelson got the start, along with Sambi Lokonga, Eddie Nketiah, and Mohamed Elneny.

So, who should Mikel Arteta give valuable minutes to against Brighton? Here are three players for the Spaniard to consider.
1. Marquinhos
The speedy winger has disappeared from the Arsenal first team of late. After scoring on debut away at FC Zurich, the 19-year-old has since started once for the Gunners. He was an unused sub against PSV and Zurich to round off the Europa League group stage.
His four goals and two assists in the Premier League 2 for Arsenal in five games show he is in form, and Arteta should be granting the young Brazilian a chance to shine from the get-go.
