Positive #2 – Arsenal’s superb away record continues

Arsenal currently sit top of the away Premier League table with 19 points out of 24. The Gunners have dashed the poor away form that plagued the side during the latter stages of Arsene Wenger’s tenure and Unai Emery’s stint in charge.

It all stems from the core of the side. The signings that Arteta, and also Edu Gaspar, have made have evolved Arsenal into a much more resilient outfit.

The Gunners are able to dominate the ball not just at the Emirates, where they have won all their matches, but also on their away trips. It’s a trend that Arteta will hope will continue if Arsenal are to put their plea in for the title. They are a side that needs to be taken seriously: five points clear is no fluke.

Negative #2 – Granit Xhaka’s early exit

Arsenal’s Swiss midfielder had to leave the match after just 16 minutes against Wolves. His unfortunate departure caused concerns for fans, as it comes just before the World Cup.

Fortunately, his problems were a result of tummy issues, not an injury, something that won’t see him miss the tournament. Speaking after the match, Arteta said: “He’s [Xhaka] okay. We had a few boys with some tummy issues but I’m delighted that we adapted to those circumstances and managed to win the game.”

Xhaka’s early departure gave Vieira a rare Premier League chance to shine. To the delight of Arteta, the Portuguese midfielder took his chance and assisted Odegaard’s first goal. It was a determined performance all-round from Arsenal. The chances came and were taken: a true mark of a title-challenging side.
