Arsenal’s 2022/23 midseason awards: Best player, best performance & more

Best Player: Gabriel Jesus – The Brazilian has elevated Arsenal to a new level this season. His impact on their performances has been huge, even though he hasn’t been scoring recently. He is a signing that has lifted Arsenal to the top of the table and deserves due credit for his contributions.
Best Performance: Arsenal 3-2 Liverpool – Arsenal’s home match against Liverpool was one that defined the progress that Mikel Arteta has made at the club. It was an electric match where Arsenal showed their quality. Arsenal very rarely beat Liverpool, so the victory at the Emirates was even sweeter.
Biggest Surprise: Granit Xhaka’s redemption – After Xhaka was booed off against Crystal Palace in 2019, I don’t think anyone would’ve foreseen his resurgence that would come years later. He has been a key part of Arsenal’s success this season to the surprise of many fans.
Biggest Disappointment: Manchester United defeat – This match would’ve been a statement win for Arsenal, who haven’t won at Old Trafford in the Premier League (with fans) since 2006. The game was a real chance for Arteta to break this record but it wasn’t to be
Overall Grade: A – Top of the league. Only five points dropped. That is all that needs to be said.
