Arsenal’s preparations ahead of the Premier League’s Boxing Day return conclude with a friendly against Serie A giants Juventus at the Emirates on Saturday evening.

The Gunners enjoyed a successful trip out to Dubai as Mikel Arteta opted to put his squad through a warm-weather training camp as some first-teamers competed at the World Cup. Victories over Lyon and AC Milan were secured, with young Karl Hein proving heroic in the shootouts as they won the prestigious Dubai Super Cup.

The club’s hunt for the quadruple has already begun.

Juventus, meanwhile, are some way behind the Premier League outfit in preparing for domestic football’s return. Serie A doesn’t make its comeback until the start of 2023, with Max Allegri’s side marking their return against Cremonese on 4 January.

Prediction

Arsenal showed in Dubai that they’ve barely missed a beat despite the long break and they’ll be wanting to put on a show for supporters on Saturday.

Arteta could welcome more World Cup stars back to the fold for this friendly and the Gunners will be expected to beat a Juventus side that is yet to rigorously prepare for the return of domestic football.

Given that they are much further ahead in their preparations, the hosts should claim victory here. This is Juve’s first official friendly of the winter, and a rusty performance should be expected. The Gunners, meanwhile, are proving themselves to be a well-oiled machine even in the absence of several key players.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Juventus
