We’re closing in on Arsenal’s return to Premier League action. It’s been well other a month since we got to enjoy Mikel Arteta’s showtime Gunners, but they did tease their majesty out in the Middle East during a warm-weather training camp.

Juventus did their best to sap our momentum in Saturday’s friendly, and those making the trip to the Emirates on Boxing Day will be hoping that the Bianconeri’s victory will not deter the Gunners upon their official return.

Arsenal currently boast a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League following a brilliant start to the 2022/23 season. They’ve dropped points in just two league games thus far, and have looked imperious on home soil.

Gabriel Jesus’ injury will make life tougher for Arteta after Christmas, but Eddie Nketiah proved at the backend of last season that he has the capacity to effectively lead the Gunners’ line. Only time will tell whether Nketiah’s late-season resurgence was a mere flash in the pan. He’s disappointed so far this season after earning a bumper new deal and the #14 shirt.

Nketiah’s performances are just one of several sub-plots to enjoy once the Gunners mark their return to Premier League action on Boxing Day. Arteta’s men will compete just twice more before the end of the year with a trip to Brighton rounding off 2022. Then, an ominous January awaits.
