Arsenal will enter 2023 as the Premier League leaders no matter what plays out at the Amex on New Year’s Eve.

2022 has been a year full of peaks and troughs for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners with the disappointment of the conclusion to 2022/23 quickly being forgotten by their excellent start to the new season.

From the heartbreaking defeat to Manchester City on New Year’s Day to the festive cheer against the Hammers, supporters have been through a whirlwind of emotions enjoying Arsenal’s journey this year.

Thus, with the calendar year drawing to a close, we thought it’d only be right if we remembered some of the best performances of 2022.

Here are PITA’s top five Arsenal games of 2022.

5. Chelsea 2-4 Arsenal (20 April)

Our list kicks off with the first victory at Stamford Bridge in 2022.

Arsenal entered this contest with their top-four hopes in tatters following three straight defeats in April. An ominous test awaited Arteta’s men as they visited their London rivals midweek, but they produced one of their performances of the season to reignite their Champions League bid.

Eddie Nketiah notched a brace and Emile Smith Rowe rounded off a flowing team move in the Gunners’ 4-2 triumph. This was a mature display that concluded with Bukayo Saka overcoming his demons from 12 yards to seal the visitors’ victory.

Unfortunately, Arsenal’s conclusion to the season took some gloss off this impressive away win.
