2. Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham (1 October)
North London Derby victories are always wonderful, but there was something particularly special about this win given what our closest rivals had done to us at the end of 2021/22.
This was vengeance.
After Thomas Partey produced one of the moments of the year when he opened the scoring with a pinpoint effort from range, Spurs bit back and restored parity through, you guessed it, a Harry Kane penalty.
Thus, the derby was locked at 1-1 going into half-time, but the Gunners blew their fiercest rivals away after the restart. Sure, they were helped by a Hugo Lloris flap and the idiocy of Emerson Royal, but that doesn’t take away from the comfort of Arsenal’s eventual victory.
Granit Xhaka’s emphatic effort took the game away from the visitors and allowed the hosts to coast for the final 20 minutes.
