While Arsenal men have not been too busy a week into the January transfer window, Arsenal Women have made some big moves this week, so let’s dive into them.

One player has left the club, and it’s a big one with club legend Jordan Nobbs joining Aston Villa. The 29-year-old midfielder has been with the club since 2017, scoring 30 goals in her 88 WSL appearances for the Gunners.

She was a part of the 2018/19 league title-winning team and has been an integral part of Arsenal’s team since she joined the club. After only seven starts in the WSL in the last season and a half, she has decided to join the Clarets in search of game time before this year’s World Cup, and all Arsenal fans should wish Jordan the best as she continues with her career.

With Arsenal still firmly in the WSL title race and part of the Champions League knockout phase, reinforcements were badly needed, especially with ACL tears for Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema. The first reinforcement is the return of Gio Queiroz from her loan move to Everton. She only managed 135 minutes in the WSL with Everton, scoring once. She’s still only 19 and making the jump from Brazil to England, so patience is crucial with her development.

Giovana is definitely one for the future.

In the last two days, Arsenal have lured players to north London through the market with the signings of Victoria Pelova from Ajax and Kathrine Kühl from FC Nordsjælland. The 23-year-old Pelova seems to be more of an established product capable of pushing for a starting spot in the XI. She had six goals and nine assists for Ajax last season in 24 games and has three goals and two assists in eight matches this season.

Pelova seems like a solid attacking addition for the Gunners.

Kühl, meanwhile, is only 19 but has acquired 5,570 league minutes in her career so far. She has seven goals and one assist in the league from midfield since she made her debut at age 16 in the 2019/20 season.

We’ll have to wait and see to learn more about both of the new signings, but the attacking depth is arriving. I still would like to see a more established star arrive for the Gunners. I’ve mentioned her before, but Sophia Smith on loan would be an outstanding addition until the end of the year. She just won the USWNT Player of the Year and has expressed interest in playing for a club in the Champions League. That kind of calibre of player could be huge for Arsenal’s title aspirations.
