Another mammoth Premier League encounter awaits Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal as they play host to a resurgent Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Some of the wind was taken out of United’s sails in the week as Michael Olise struck at the death with a stunning free-kick to snatch a point against Erik ten Hag’s side, who had just tasted victory in the Manchester Derby.

Their win over Manchester City had some talking up United as potential title challengers, but the draw at Selhurst Park depicted their flaws and highlighted that they’re still at the very start of their project under Ten Hag.

Arteta, meanwhile, is flying high in his third full season as Arsenal boss. The Gunners are top of the Premier League by eight points and have shown no signs of slowing down after the World Cup break. They claimed a significant derby victory last weekend and are looking to assert their dominance once more against a Big Six rival on Sunday.

Arsenal Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Mikel Arteta, who is poised to name an unchanged starting XI from last Sunday’s victory in the North London Derby.

Man Utd Team News

The visitors were dealt a huge blow on Wednesday as Casemiro picked up his fifth yellow card of the season which means he’s suspended for Sunday’s game. Thus, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ten Hag deploy both Scott McTominay and Fred alongside Christian Eriksen against Arsenal’s purring midfield.

Diogo Dalot could return to the matchday squad but Aaron Wan-Bissaka should retain his place at right-back, while new signing Wout Weghorst is likely to continue up front after Anthony Martial picked up a hamstring injury in the Manchester Derby.

Arsenal vs Man Utd Predicted Lineups

Man Utd: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; McTominay, Fred, Eriksen; Bruno; Rashford, Weghorst.

Prediction

Arsenal fans would’ve undoubtedly been a little fearful heading into Sunday’s game had the contest arrived after United’s victory in the Manchester Derby. However, the Red Devils’ draw at Palace combined with Casemiro’s suspension leaves supporters confident of a home victory this weekend.

The Gunners were tremendous for much of last Sunday’s North London Derby and while United are enjoying a lengthy unbeaten run of their own, there’s no tougher fixture in the Premier League calendar right now than Arsenal away.

Arteta’s side are firing on all cylinders and it’s hard to envisage a Casemiro-less United slowing them down this weekend, even if Ten Hag opts for a more pragmatic approach.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd
