Arsenal produced one of their performances of the season without Martin Odegaard in the reverse fixture. However, a big reason why they were able to dominate and limit Brentford in possession was due to the absence of Christian Norgaard.

The Danish international is the unsung star in Frank’s machine; a player that’s capable of competing at the very highest level. He plays such a key role in Brentford’s system, especially when they switch to a 3-5-2.

Norgaard’s cool in possession and adept at playing under pressure, but it’s without the ball where he excels. He screens the defence superbly. No Brentford player has registered more tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes in the Premier League than the 28-year-old this season (4.64).

The Bees have lost just one of the 11 games Norgaard has appeared in this term, drawing four, while they won just two of the 11 games he missed. The Dane is hugely important, and he’ll line up at the base of midfield on Saturday determined to stifle Odegaard and company.
