On that note, the most significant achievement of Arsène’s career, more impactful than winning the Invincible season, building the Emirates, all of the FA Cups and league titles, was remaining in the Champions League for 19 consecutive seasons.

There’s more. Wenger qualified for Europe’s premier club competition every year between 1996 and 2014 with a net spend of £26.6m. For comparison, Pep Guardiola’s first 21 months at Man City saw him spend approximately £328m.

There has to be something said about accomplishing more with less. Wenger won three English league titles, seven FA Cups, seven Community Sheilds, one French league title and various other competitions. His greatest accolades, however, were the cultural revolution he started within the club, the building of the emirates, and the consistent winning reputation that Arteta is now reviving.
