Arsenal was held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates on Saturday as Thomas Frank’s well-drilled Brentford side did more than enough to earn its point.

It was a difficult afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s side as he missed a chance to rotate his squad ahead of the Manchester City clash midweek as several players needed more energy.

Leandro Trossard gave the Gunners the lead minutes after coming on to replace Gabriel Martinelli in the second half. But Ivan Toney equalized minutes later to give the visitors a share of the spoils.

The game provided plenty of talking points; here they are.

Missed Chance To Pressure City

Arsenal missed a chance to heap further pressure on City before its midweek clash. The Gunners are still six points clear of Pep Guardiola’s men, but a loss midweek would cut that to just three.

While Brentford was fully deserving of a point on Saturday, after the Gunners took the lead, they should have done more to put the game away.

That goal-mouth scramble that led to Toney’s goal could prove decisive.
