3 positives & negatives from Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City

It was a match with a lot of build-up that ended in disappointment for the Gunners.

For a lot of fans, and I’m sure the players too, this felt like THE game, a game of two title contenders that could have a lot to say about the momentum for the rest of the season.

3 positives & negatives from Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City

Unfortunately, it didn’t go Arsenal’s way, it happens. Arsenal may be down, but they are certainly not out of the title race.

Positive #1: Jorginho

When news broke hours before kickoff that Thomas Partey would miss the match due to injury, Gooners predictably went into meltdown.

Despite having played less than 90 minutes for the club, fans did not want to see Jorginho anywhere near this match. Arsenal have been burned in the past by signings from Chelsea, but Jorginho is a Gooner now; fans have to give him at least a chance to succeed with the club.

He started in Arsenal’s biggest match of the season, and it can confidently be said that Jorginho was far from the reason the Gunners lost yesterday. In fact, he was probably our best performer, to the surprise of many.

Negative #1: Immaturity

There were moments in the match when the pressure got to this young Arsenal team. City showed up as a team that has done this before, being clinical and capitalising off of their opponent’s mistakes. It’s so easy to forget that Arteta’s side are the youngest in the Premier League.

This kind of immaturity will happen, but the team will hopefully bounce back.
