3. Martin Odegaard

While the allure of the open net and his shocking miss may still be preying on him, Martin Odegaard must focus on the game at hand. Against Villa, Odegaard was on a different level to everyone else on the pitch in that second half. Working back defensively, demanding the ball and making magnificent passes, he pushed Arsenal over the line.

Leicester will be difficult in its own right but much less so should Odegaard continue his second-half form. The Foxes’ midfield has looked lethargic and sluggish at times, with gaps in between the lines for opposition players to exploit. Should a midfield including Maddison and Youri Tielemans be deployed, there will be even more space, with the lack of athleticism a concern for Brendan Rodgers’ side. This is far from the Onana-Gueye-Doucoure trio.

Arsenal must focus on getting the ball to Odegaard quickly before Leicester get set. From there, the Norwegian can punish slow closing out by opposition players. There is no doubt that he will be eager to take over the game and contribute goals and assists after Villa. Let’s hope he does so.

Arteta and his team will be looking to build momentum again after stumbling in recent weeks. Leicester City provides the perfect opportunity to do so. Arsenal’s attack and a struggling Leicester side shipping in goals for fun should make for a fun watch (made even more fun should Arsenal win easily). Hopefully, Arsenal can secure another three points in an unforgettable season.
