1. That Ludogorets goal (2016)

Wow, wow, wow. I still can’t quite describe the feeling of watching this goal unfold. Some fans would potentially place Ozil’s FA Cup performance over this moment, but the iconic aspect of this goal, the magnitude of the Champions League and the applause from all sets of fans that this moment received was truly remarkable.

I am not alone in saying that this is my all-time favourite Champions League goal, particularly from an Arsenal perspective. The goal didn’t just embody Ozil, but it captured the very essence of the club under Wenger. It was Wenger ball at its very finest.

With the ball bouncing, he controlled it perfectly as expected, and then proceeded to lift the ball over the goalkeeper, before faking a shot not once, but twice, to leave two Ludogorets defenders, plus the goalie, in his wake. In typical Ozil fashion, the ball was then calmly rolled into the back of the net.

It was Mesut Ozil at his wonderfully brilliant best.
