5 clubs that could sign Folarin Balogun this summer
2. Borussia Dortmund
Balogun may yet commit to the USMNT, but we’ll label him an Englishman for the time being.
Borussia Dortmund and young English talent is a relationship that’s proved fruitful in the past, and Balogun could be the next beneficiary.
BVB are enjoying a fine season despite their recent Champions League elimination, and the return of Sebastien Haller from cancer treatment will bolster their Bundesliga title charge down the stretch. The Ivorian has looked in fine touch since his heroic comeback.
The German club also has Youssoufa Moukoko on their books, as well as Donyell Malen, but the latter hasn’t quite found his groove in Germany. Despite Malen’s inconsistency, the presence of Haller and Moukoko, who recently signed a new contract, means striker isn’t necessarily a dire position of need for Dortmund this summer.
Nevertheless, Balogun’s availability may be too big of an opportunity to pass up and if they can acquire him for a reasonable price, BVB might be tempted.
