These ruthless Bavarians, eh? Julian Nagelsmann out, Thomas Tuchel in. Just like that.

Bayern’s on-pitch performance certainly wasn’t the primary reason for Nagelsmann’s sacking, and it has to be said the young German boss wasn’t exactly helped after the Bayern hierarchy failed to sign a like-for-like replacement for Robert Lewandowski last summer.

Nagelsmann was forced to improvise, but Tuchel isn’t so creative with his utilisation of his forwards. He’ll likely lean on Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting until the end of the season.

A suitable Lewandowski successor will be signed this summer, and while the German giants are said to be in for Harry Kane, perhaps they could change tack and opt for youth. This would certainly be a risk on their behalf, but Balogun has displayed his pedigree in France this term.

An unlikely move, for sure, but the 21-year-old could be a Plan C or D.
