Arsenal are enjoying a sensational season, but the culmination of 2022/23 does not signal the end of Mikel Arteta’s project in north London.

The Gunners are well ahead of schedule – even if they don’t end the season as Premier League champions. Exciting times lie ahead because supporters are aware that Arteta’s squad could yet improve.

Recruitment has played a major role in the club’s resurgence, and their ability to get players off their books has aided Edu’s capacity to bring the requisite players to the Emirates. While a return to the Champions League next season will bolster Arsenal’s summer kitty, there’s no doubt that the club will also seek to offload talent in a bid to raise funds.

The Gunners have got a ton of players out on loan, and each of these could be sold permanently this summer. In this piece, we’re going to focus on the players currently in Arteta’s squad that could be moved on at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Holding sits among the longest-serving Gooners after joining the club in 2016, but the defender has never lived up to the promising heights he showed during his debut season.

Nevertheless, the Englishman has remained a serviceable option throughout his tenure at the club, and he’s often impressed during his few appearances this term. Thus, Holding’s not a player the club should necessarily be pushing out, but they could do with an upgrade behind William Saliba – who could be a staple of the Gunners for years to come.

Despite his bit-part role, Holding is happy in north London, but given his age (27) and the lack of first-team opportunities heading his way, perhaps he’ll want to depart in favour of more regular minutes elsewhere.

The club shouldn’t stand in his way.
