A major part of Arsenal’s evolution has been the introduction of an inverted full-back following the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City.

It’s a role the Ukrainian mastered at the Etihad, and he’s performed at an incredibly high level since moving to the Emirates. Zinchenko’s brilliance has seen Tierney, once a significant cog in Arteta’s machine, firmly reduced to second choice. The bulk of his minutes this term have arrived in the Europa League, with the Scot making just four Premier League starts. He’s far too good to be sitting on the bench week in and week out. Tierney knows that.

The bombarding left-back isn’t suited to the inverted role, and I believe Arteta would be happy to move the former Celtic star on this summer. There’s no doubt that he’ll garner plenty of interest, and Arsenal could recuperate a generous fee for his sale.

This move makes sense for all parties.
