Gabriel Jesus isn’t going anywhere, so Arsenal have to choose between Nketiah and Folarin Balogun this summer.

Nketiah signed a bumper new deal last year off the back of his impressive form to end 2021/22, and he filled in ably after the World Cup while Jesus was out injured. Despite his improvement, Nketiah’s limitations started to manifest before he was usurped in the XI by the multi-faceted Leandro Trossard.

The striker is currently absent due to injury, and Jesus’ return means we’re unlikely to see much of him before the season draws to a close. With Balogun firing in Ligue 1 and proving himself at a senior level, the club may regard him as an upgrade over Nketiah and integrate him into the squad next season.

Balogun is undoubtedly a more lucrative asset, however, and the club would be wise to cash in with his stock at an all-time high. However, if they don’t want to get rid of the 21-year-old, Nketiah must succumb to the market.
