Despite signing Jorginho in January, it’s likely that Arsenal go back into the transfer market to look for a midfielder (or two) in this summer’s transfer window.

Given the £70m bid Arsenal reportedly made for Moises Caicedo, it’s safe to say that the club is willing to spend big to get the right man.

Heavily linked in 2022, Arsenal could be back in for Youri Tielemans to strengthen their midfield on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. After Leicester City manager Brendan Rogers said that the club will not be looking to sell Tielemans back in October, there isn’t much to suggest that the club and Tielemans are close to reaching a new deal.

In Tielemans, Arsenal would be getting a Premier League-proven midfielder that fits the age and tactical profiles that Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are looking for. He may not immediately claim a spot in the starting XI but should be able to compete with Granit Xhaka to provide depth in Arsenal’s midfield.

Given the fact that he is likely to be available on a free transfer, there is a chance that Arsenal could look to sign him in addition to another midfielder this summer. At this time, however, the club may have their eyes on bigger prizes.
