According to reports from Italy, Arsenal are interested in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić. The 27-year-old midfielder’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and the Rome side won’t want to put off his transfer for too long if they want to maximise their profits before his contract runs out since he reportedly isn’t open to signing a new deal.

It’s easy to see how Milinković-Savić would fit into the Arsenal side. He immediately raises the ceiling of the club and fits the profile of the unique Granit Xhaka role that Arteta has moulded to fit the Swiss midfielder. While Milinković-Savić is a veteran in his own right, he is two years younger than Xhaka and looks hungry to compete at the highest level. With over 100 goal contributions for club and country and physicality to match the Premier League, he is the type of signing that could take Arsenal to the next level.

There will be other clubs, such as Juventus, in for the Serbian midfielder. Still, the prospect of competing for Premier League and Champions League titles may convince Milinković-Savić to pick Arsenal should they pursue him.
