PITA’s Arsenal Player of the Month – March 2023
Europa League exit aside, March was a bloody good one from Arsenal’s perspective.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners took fans through an emotional rollercoaster against Bournemouth and displayed why they are where they are in the Premier League table in their triumphs over Everton, Fulham, and Crystal Palace.
Failure in Europe was a disappointment, but the league title is the overwhelming priority and Arsenal’s productive March has put them in a great position to pip Man City to the post when it’s all said and done.
The ending of a month can only mean one thing here at PITA. That’s right, it’s Player of the Month time. There were six games in March and we’ve generously gifted those that started three eligibility.
PITA’s Arsenal Player of the Month – March 2023
So, without further ado, let’s find out who’s been crowned our POTM for March 2023!
3. Bukayo Saka (Average rating – 7.1)
I’m sure many of you expected our starboy to be atop the rankings, and I must admit I was rather surprised Saka’s average rating for March wasn’t the highest in the squad.
However, the England star did endure a three-game barren run which saw his rating dip to below 6.0 for a brief period.
His stellar performances against Everton and Palace were not enough to see him beat out his competitors for our March crown, but his 7.1 rating is enough for a podium finish.
2. Martin Odegaard (Average rating – 7.25)
The majestic skipper enjoyed yet another superb month as his four starts garnered a respectable rating of 7.25. Arsenal missed his all-encompassing creative presence over the two legs against Sporting CP, with Arteta opting to use the Norweigan off the bench in both ties.
His domestic performances in March were as consistent as anything. His rating never dipped below 7.0, with his most impressive display coming against Everton to kick off the month.
1. William Saliba & Thomas Partey (Average rating 7.5)
Uh oh, what do we do here?! Can you share a Player of the Month award? Why not! It’s our rules.
So, sharing our March 2023 award are Saliba and Partey. The latter was rather fortunate to qualify this month as he only started three games, but we thought his performances in the Premier League were so crucial to Arsenal’s success that he deserves the recognition. The Ghanaian was particularly brilliant in the convincing triumph over Fulham.
As for Saliba, his month ended on the sidelines as he picked up a back injury against Sporting, but he shone on his four previous starts to earn a 7.5 rating. The Frenchman bagged his second Arsenal goal in Lisbon and put in imperious displays against Everton and Fulham.
