Battle #3: Granit Xhaka vs Marc Roca

Can Xhaka maintain his brilliant run in front of goal?

Our reborn Swiss midfielder has enjoyed a fine run of form recently and got two goal contributions against Belarus over the international break. But, it is his midfield talents that will be particularly important this weekend.

The advanced positioning he now assumes may trouble Gracia’s men because it will prompt a Leeds centre-back to step into central areas and man mark, or else offer Arsenal a numerical advantage in possession that could facilitate quick passing exchanges – helping to break down the back five the visitors form when Roca drops deep off the ball.

Meanwhile, Roca’s 6ft frame and eye for interceptions will result in interesting midfield duels – both on the ground and aerially – and Xhaka needs to be at his best to limit his opponent’s time in possession, with quick, accurate passes between the lines among the Spaniard’s strongest attributes.

It will be Granit vs Roca in north London, and our man is well-placed to come out on top.
