Despite the claims of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag, Arsenal haven’t exactly had the best of injury luck this season.

The Gunners were without star striker Gabriel Jesus for three months, while the likes of Thomas Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko have each endured spells on the sidelines.

Mikel Arteta’s side have continued to prosper even without a full cohort of players available, and they’ve recently been without the services of blossoming young defender William Saliba. The Frenchman has been nothing short of a sensation since he was finally integrated into the first team set-up ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

He’s played a critical role in Arsenal’s evolution, and some feared the worst when he trudged off in a Europa League tie before the recent international break. The Gunners have been without Saliba for three weeks, with the club refusing to offer a time frame for his return.

Could he be back in action this weekend for Arsenal’s huge Premier League clash away at Liverpool?

What injury has William Saliba picked up?

Saliba has been out of action with a back injury he picked up before the March international break. While the issue forced him off against Sporting CP, some have speculated that he might’ve picked up the knock after falling awkwardly in the 3-0 victory over Fulham.

How long has William Saliba been out of action?

Saliba’s last appearance came in the Europa League round of 16 second leg against Sporting on 16 March.

He’s missed Arsenal’s most two recent Premier League outings either side of the international break and he was forced to withdraw from the France squad for the start of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

Will William Saliba return from injury against Liverpool?

The Frenchman has been described as a “serious doubt” for this weekend’s game by the Evening Standard.

Saliba is yet to return to training as a result of his back injury, and while a decision is expected to be made closer to Sunday’s trip to Anfield, Rob Holding will likely continue to partner Gabriel at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.
