3. Get in behind the high defensive line

While high lines have formed a vital component of Klopp’s tactical plans since he first arrived in England, their inherent risk is now being frequently exposed and might spell danger against the Arsenal frontline.

Liverpool pride themselves on an aggressive press and endeavour to win the ball back quickly in the opponents’ half – a strategy that requires a high defensive line in order to compact the pitch and force turnovers.

However, poor midfield duelling and uncharacteristic disorganisation at the back have significantly reduced their success rate in this regard during 2022/23 and caused them to be repeatedly caught out in transition by rapid forwards, as Martinelli and Bukayo Saka did in our October win.

Perhaps a surprise midweek rest will help to rejuvenate their defence, but Liverpool have made sloppy mistakes all season and could be forced into many more by our coordinated attack this weekend.
