For years Arsenal’s big names hid when it came to meetings with the so-called ‘Big Six’, particularly away from home, but that has now changed, and no player loves such occasions more than Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal’s star boy has once again been in incredible form this season and is rightly being mentioned in the same breath as the very best players in world football as a result of his performances for club and country.

After a slow goal-scoring start, Saka scored his first Premier League goal at Old Trafford in September and has since gone on to grab two against Liverpool and one against Man City, along with his thunderbolt strike against United at the Emirates.

On top of his goals, he has grabbed assists against Tottenham and Chelsea away from home this season and forced Hugo Lloris into palming the ball into his own net during Arsenal’s 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.

This record against the Big Six is very much a continuation from last season when he scored and assisted against Tottenham, and scored against United, City and Chelsea, meaning he now has goals against all of the Premier League’s big boys.

Defenders now go into games knowing that Saka is a real threat. He may look like a harmless young man, but when he steps on the pitch he is as cold and ruthless as any attacker in world football, and Liverpool will be well aware of that.

Last season, Andrew Robertson scored the goal that put Liverpool 1-0 up at the Emirates and was one of the standout players of the game, but at the end of the season, he said that keeping Saka quiet was one of his biggest achievements, and spoke of his importance for Arsenal.

Since then, Saka has become a more refined player, and his end product has become even more impressive, as his 12 goals and ten assists this season testify to.

Robertson will be well aware of Saka’s threat when the sides meet at Anfield, but Saka will be going into the game with the same swagger he has played with all season. After playing just 30 minutes last week, he is going to be hungry and fresh for the battle ahead of him.
