Arsenal’s top five goals against West Ham
By Adam Keys
2. Santi Cazorla: 6th October 2012, Upton Park
Santi Cazorla dazzled the Arsenal faithful during his time in north London, with his ability on both feet, his tenacity, his work rate, vision, passing range, dribbling and ball-striking ability. He really had it all, and it took a long time for Arsenal fans to get over his departure, especially when you consider how sharply his playing time ended.
This goal summed up why every fan loved him so much. He always had the ability to pull something out of nothing, and to this day, none of us knows which was his stronger foot, as this left foot gem will testify to.
1. Thierry Henry: 24th August 2002, Upton Park
After going 2-0 down, Arsenal needed a spark. Who better to step up than Thierry Henry? He lifted Patrick Vieira’s zipped pass with his left, set it with his knee and rifled it into the top corner with his right foot. No one was stopping it. An absolute thunderbolt to kickstart Arsenal’s comeback, and two minutes later Sylvan Wiltord equalised before the game finished 2-2.
Arsenal will be hoping for more of the same on Sunday at the London Stadium, and with Xhaka, Partey, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli and Trossard, they have plenty of players with great ball-striking abilities, capable of making their own headlines.
