Arsenal’s transfer record in the last few windows has been nothing short of excellent, hitting on the vast majority of players that have been brought in.

We expect that Arsenal will continue to bring in new players to further improve a squad that is already competing for titles and will be competing in the Champions League competition again for the first time since 2017.

Despite signing Leandro Trossard in January, Arsenal are expected to be in the market for a right-winger this summer to compete with Bukayo Saka. While it will be a challenge to find somebody that can bring as much to the pitch as our starboy, the fact of the matter is that he can’t play every game.

With Champions League football next season, having somebody else that can play in his role without the quality of the team suffering would be massive. Also, with the transfer fees that were being discussed for Mykhailo Mudryk, we know that there is the money and desire to spend big on a winger.

1. Moussa Diaby

According to Sky Sports, Moussa Diaby was one of the first names that Arsenal looked at after missing out on Mudryk in January. It’s easy to see why. The French left-footer has 20 goal contributions so far this season after having 31 goal contributions for Bayer Leverkusen in 2021/22. At only 23 years old, he is a great age to be able to compete with Saka for years to come.

While he is an impressive dribbler, Diaby’s end product is really what separates him from other wingers in consideration. Compared to other players in his position, he ranks in the 88th percentile in non-penalty expected goals, 79th percentile in non-penalty goals, 86th percentile in expected assisted goals and 92nd percentile in non-penalty expected goals + assisted goals.

The main issue with this transfer will be the transfer fee. He is under contract until 2025 and Bayer Leverkusen will only sell for a significant transfer fee, reportedly quoting interested clubs €100m for the player this summer. There’s also the concern of whether or not Diaby would be happy not starting every game like he has become used to in Germany. Nonetheless, it’s not difficult to see how he could fit in at Arsenal, and he is certainly one to watch for this summer.
