Arsenal 3-3 Southampton: 3 talking points as Gunners drop points again

Arsenal have handed Manchester City the advantage in the title race after an entertaining 3-3 draw against lowly Southampton.
Mikel Arteta made two changes from the side that drew 2-2 with West Ham as Oleksandr Zinchenko came into the side for Kieran Tierney and Fabio Vieira replaced Granit Xhaka, who missed out through illness.
Southampton scored within 25 seconds as Carlos Alcaraz fired home after picking off Aaron Ramsdale. The visitors doubled their lead just before the 15-minute mark as former Gunner Theo Walcott slotted home past Ramsdale to put the Saints in a commanding position.
Arsenal got a goal back from Gabriel Martinelli after the Brazilian was on the end of a Bukayo Saka cross, but the Saints restored their two-goal advantage at the start of the second half through Duje Caleta-Car.
Martin Odegaard pulled one back for his team after a neat one-two with Ben White on the edge of the area and the captain curled in his shot from range.
Arsenal brought themselves level in the 90th minute as Bukayo Saka was on the end of a parried shot from Reiss Nelson as the Emirates erupted.

After back-to-back draws, Arsenal knew that anything other than a win was unacceptable, and they picked the worst time to have one of their worst performances of the season.
With the draw to bottom-placed Southampton, Arsenal have put City into the driving seat for the league title.
All of the hard work throughout the season was thrown away in three games. It’s a tough pill to swallow.
