Despite the three recent draws, Arsenal is fighting for the Premier League for the first time in years. However, the young team needs to find the right level of desperation. Against Liverpool and West Ham, Arsenal came out guns blazing and looked like they had both fixtures sealed in the first 30 minutes. In both games, the foot was taken off of the pedal, and the points were dropped.

Against the Saints, the pedal didn’t hit the metal until too late. The opposite problem occurred as if the team were overcompensating for their mistakes in the previous weeks. Southampton looked like a team that needed a result to maintain their paychecks and performed like it. Arsenal showed the tremendous spirit everyone in world football knows the team has but could not get over the line because of unnecessary mistakes.

Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, Thomas Partey and Fabio Vieira were all substantially sub-par and will have to remedy their errors against domestic league titans Manchester City. The team must locate the perfect mindset heading into the biggest game for the Gunners in years.

Arsenal still have a chance at the Premier League title. Although he may be partially biased, Walcott thinks the Gunners are a better team than Manchester City. If the Gunners win on Wednesday against the reigning champions, which by all means is possible, the race is indeed back on. Nothing but the three points will do, and this young team is capable of greatness. Arsenal fans must be loud whether they visit the Etihad with Arteta or at home in front of the TV.
