Arsenal ended a four-game winless run on Tuesday night as they thrashed London rivals Chelsea 3-1 on Tuesday night to return to the top of the Premier League table.

The hosts barely had to get out of first gear in the opening period as they put a hapless Blues to the sword. The excellent Martin Odegaard scored twice to set the hosts on their way before Gabriel Jesus added a third before the break.

Arsenal looked for all money to extend their lead at the start of the second half, but it was Chelsea who grabbed the game’s fourth goal through Noni Madueke. However, the Gunners would not succumb to a sensational turnaround as they controlled the contest thereafter with chances coming few and far between at either end.

Arsenal’s triumph saw them usurp Man City at the top of the table, with their lead currently two points having played two games more than their title rivals.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Aaron Ramsdale (GK) – 6/10 – Made a big save to deny Ben Chilwell with the score at 1-0, but Madueke’s goal meant he went another game without a clean sheet.

Ben White (RB) – 5/10 – Raheem Sterling got the better of him on a couple of occasions in the first half with savvy movement, and Chelsea sought to exploit the space behind the Gunners’ right-back.

Jakub Kiwior (CB) – 7/10 – The surprise inclusion impressed on his first Premier League start. Won plenty of duels, and was aggressive when needed to ensure Arsenal sustained pressure. Expect he’ll remain in the XI moving forward.

Gabriel (CB) – 6/10 – Supporters were probably not too concerned with his performance and are just hopeful he avoided any serious injury. Went down multiple times for treatment before he was eventually substituted.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB) – 5/10 – Positionally all over the place for Madueke’s goal as he let the winger ghost in behind before scoring.
