Midfielders

Jorginho (DM) – 8.5/10 – There were some concerns about Jorginho’s inclusions, but the Italian quelled any fears after the Gunners took the lead. He played a key role in his side establishing control in a hostile environment.

Granit Xhaka (CM) – 8.5/10 – Arteta’s warrior produced a mammoth display. His physicality was required against a robust Newcastle midfield, and he took advantage of Joelinton’s errant pressing to set Arsenal on their way in possession on occasions. Made a couple of huge defensive interventions.

Martin Odegaard (CM) – 9/10 – Those first 45 minutes were arguably the best Odegaard has produced in an Arsenal shirt. Nothing short of magical in possession, and absolutely relentless without it.
