An appetite for regular first-team action means Charlie Patino will bring the curtain down on his eight-year Arsenal association later this summer.

The 19-year-old’s imminent departure follows a strong loan spell at relegated Blackpool, where he made 37 appearances across all competitions and produced some fine displays that saw him win over the Bloomfield Road support.

Championship life was only the first step for Patino and another temporary switch would have likely beckoned for him next season, but he is keen to play at a higher level now and believes his starting dreams will be more attainable elsewhere.

4 potential options Charlie Patino might consider ahead of his Arsenal exit

Verdicts from fans and scouts alike indicate the player has what it takes to reach the very top, and here are four potential suitors that could help him get there.

1. Burnley

Turf Moor seems like the ideal spot for Patino to cut his Premier League teeth.

Fresh from signing a new five-year contract, Vincent Kompany has earned huge plaudits for securing Burnley’s immediate top-flight return and he champions a possession-based style that may suit the midfielder’s extensive skillset.

Build-up from deep, minimal gaps between the lines and a high press are all tenets familiar to Patino at Arsenal and his comfort in tight spaces, along with an excellent passing range, suggests he would manage to initiate Claret attacks even when under opposition pressure.

The youngster can also drive up the pitch himself, and he combines his exceptional balance with sharp awareness to breach defensive lines and set up chances for teammates.

This would present a different challenge to recent surroundings, but it is likewise a natural progression in his development.
