Patino is said to have piqued interest from beyond the domestic sphere, and few continental sides would cultivate his talents quite like Borussia Dortmund.

Jadon Sancho, Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham and a certain Erling Haaland all attest to the German outfit’s amazing youth programme, and similar choices will give our man invaluable experience in a competitive European league.

Aptitude in various central roles means Patino would adapt well to the fluidity Edin Terzic encourages from his title chasers, while emphasis on one-touch combinations around the box might hone his creative promise and speed up decision-making for the rigours of elite-level sport.

It won’t be easy to break into Die Schwarzgelben’s first eleven even if/when Bellingham leaves, but that is a challenge Patino would have to accept.
